
The E–inclusion Foundation was registered in September 2009 as a charitable trust under the Trust Act 2001 and
is accredited
as a Special Purpose Vehicle under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.
Its creation was first announced in the Budget Speech 2008⁄2009 under the heading "Building Inclusive Mauritius",
and its mission
defined as facilitating access to ICT tools and training for those at the margin of the digital society.
The Foundation’s actions were to be conducted in close collaboration with NGOs and included:
– The donation of 20,000 refurbished PC’s, with free Microsoft licences, to lesser–privileged families over a period
of 5 years
– The donation of refurbished PC’s to NGO’s for running IT classes in conjunction with the national
Empowerment Foundation
– The operation, with Microsoft, of a NGO IT Academy for the delivery of IT classes to IT teachers and trainers
as well to NGO staff.
